It’s not often we talk about baseball in January, but there’s a local baseball team heading to Reno this July to compete in the “Baseball for All” tournament. It is the largest female baseball tournament in the world. Coach Jason Mosher says they’ve put together a local team with four girls from Corner Brook, 3 from Bay St. George, 2 from Pasadena, 1 from Mt. Pearl and 2 from St. John’s. Corner Brook team member Izzy Francis is a pitcher who also plays catch and says she likes meeting new people. Pria Gill has been playing baseball for about 6 years and also likes being part of a team. The group has been selling tickets for CB Baseball for the chance to win a snowblower, grand in the hand tickets, and asking businesses for sponsorships, to get ready for the trip this summer. They’ll be doing a draw in May for tickets to see a hockey game between Montreal and Ottawa in the nation’s capital city. Car washes and bbq’s will also take place leading up to July.
