A 48-year old man is due to appear in court at a later date in relation to impaired driving after he was stopped while driving a school bus in Corner Brook yesterday. RNC stopped the bus on East Valley Road shortly before 8.m. after getting a complaint from the public. None of the children were injured and a second bus driver arrived to continue on with the morning route to get them to school. Meanwhile, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development issued a statement saying they are aware of the incident and that “There were students on the bus but there were no injuries. As there is a formal police investigation underway, the department is unable to comment further at this time.” The statement ended with “The safety of students is paramount to all school operations, including bussing. Student supports were made available at the school if any student wanted to talk about their experience.
