An agreement on the price of shrimp has been reached. The Fish Food and Allied Workers Union and the Association of Seafood Producers agreed the price of shrimp for the 2024 fishing season; spring, summer and fall fisheries will all be under one price agreement of $1.36/lb. There is a $0.04/lb premium for gulf shrimp, and there will be no trucking fees for shrimp landing in St. Anthony and Port aux Choix/Port Saunders. The FFAW’s Jason Spingle says “This agreement will give stability and predictability for shrimp harvesters in our province and ensure they can harvest their allotted quotas in whichever season they choose.”
