The expression of interest will invite interested parties to outline potential uses for the facility, anticipated economic benefits and plans for its long-term operation and development.
Government is looking for someone with an interest in the Buchans Generating Facility, which has been shut down since 2014. In March of last year, Government provided a non-binding letter of intent indicating a willingness to discuss the potential divestment of the facility. The consortium consisted of Qalipu First Nation, Qalipu Holdings LP, Growler Energy Inc. and Angler Solutions Inc. This group will be encouraged to participate in the public process.
The expression of interest will invite interested parties to outline potential uses for the facility, anticipated economic benefits and plans for its long-term operation and development. Through the RFP, government will assess the market, compare proposals, and determine the approach that offers the greatest overall benefit to Newfoundland and Labrador.
