Government looking to raise the age to purchase tobacco

    Health Minister Tom Osborne says New Zealand has a way of increasing the legal age to 21.

    Health Minister Tom Osborne says government is looking at other jurisdictions like New Zealand when it comes to legislative amendments on the purchase of tobacco and related products. Government has launched an online survey on engageNL.ca to start in early June. Health Minister Tom Osborne says New Zealand has a way of increasing the legal age to 21. Osborne says they’re looking for feedback on this as well as prohibiting sales of tobacco through vending machines. There will also be an opportunity to provide feedback on vaping products.
