The Affordable Housing Fund (formerly known as the National Housing Co-Investment Fund) includes $8.7 million in federal funding over three years to support renovations or repairs that include energy efficiency and accessibility improvements to existing NLHC homes.
The federal and provincial governments have announced a new agreement that will see upgrades to 850 Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC) homes province-wide. The Affordable Housing Fund (formerly known as the National Housing Co-Investment Fund) includes $8.7 million in federal funding over three years to support renovations or repairs that include energy efficiency and accessibility improvements to existing NLHC homes. These renovations will result in a reduction in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of at least 25 per cent from the homes and will result in an additional 170 homes receiving accessibility upgrades. Minister responsible for the NLHC, Paul Pike, says “this agreement will make NLHC’s housing portfolio more sustainable over the long-term, ensuring our homes are available to more families.”
