There’s a couple of west coast stories including the Myth of the four-legged chickens of Corner Brook.
A Deer Lake man has included a few west coast stories in his latest book. It’s called “The Myths of Newfoundland Book one”, and it includes 25 short stories or myths, under 800 words each taken from communities all throughout Newfoundland Labrador. Written by Oral Mews, he says there’s a couple of west coast stories including the Myth of the four-legged chickens of Corner Brook. Mews Grew up in Birchy Bay and on to high school in Stephenville, and remembers stories from his youth. As well, Mews always wanted to do something like the song from Hank Snow, I’ve been everywhere. So, he wrote a song called, “Been too long,” about the trip from the ferry across the province. The song was put on social media last year and after hundreds of hits, close to 140,000 views, and 3,000 shares, Mews was contacted by NTV. They want to use the song under their Scenes of Newfoundland show.
