Justice Minister John Hogan says the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has served the residents of Corner Brook for over 30 years.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s jurisdiction has officially expanded to include Massey Drive and Mount Moriah. Effective 12:01 this morning, policing duties were switched from an RCMP jurisdiction to the RNC, based in Corner Brook.
Justice Minister John Hogan says the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has served the residents of Corner Brook for over 30 years. He says the RCMP will continue to manage ongoing files in Massey Drive and Mount Moriah that were reported to the agency prior to today.
Hogan says the JFO RCMP-RNC operation will continue. He says Pasadena and communities in the Bay of Islands will be next this year.
Hogan says “despite this expansion, there is no change to 9-1-1 services, and always dial 9-1-1 in case of emergency.”
