Councillor Donna Wheeler wanted to know if this would be a good investment and City Manager Darren Charters said this training will pay for itself quickly.
The City of Corner Brook issued a request for someone to provide specialized staff training in April and 5 proposals were submitted. At this week’s public meeting, council approved close to $50K for what’s called, “Lean / Continuous Improvement Training Services.” The contract was awarded to Leading Edge Associates. Councillor Donna Luther explained how this training framework includes Green Belt, Black Belt, and Train-the-Trainer modules. The services included providing Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training for 10-12 City employees as well as Black Belt training for the Process Improvement and Procurement Specialist which included a Train-the-Trainer component at the Yellow Belt level. This would allow the City’s in-house specialist to deliver Yellow Belt training internally.
Councillor Donna Wheeler wanted to know if this would be a good investment and City Manager Darren Charters said this training will pay for itself quickly. He says once this group of employees complete this training, they will become in-house trainers for other city staff.
