Frank Humber says it’s the perfect age to learn the sport, old enough to understand the game and young enough to love it.
Frank Humber is a familiar name in Corner Brook when talking about baseball. He spent years coaching the peewee division and when the NL Summer Games come to the west coast in August, it will feature 13-14 year olds in the male category for the sport and 12-13 years olds in female. Humber says it’s the perfect age to learn the sport, old enough to understand the game and young enough to love it.
During the games, the Fred Basha field and the Eastside field will be where baseball is played. Humber says these young people will get a multi-faceted experience, focused on competition.
Humber says at the same time, it’s more than likely the first multi-sport event they get to attend with an opportunity to see the other sports, stay with other athletes and enjoy meals together.
The NL Summer Games will take place in Corner Brook and Stephenville August 8-15.
