Parsons says it makes sense that some people could be cared for in different settings or even their homes but we still lag behind other provinces in terms of health care.
Corner Brook Mayor Jim Parsons is “dismayed” over Friday’s announcement that 15 beds will be added to Long Term Care by doubling up in rooms. He says while this is a provincial issue, something needs to be done. He’s getting a lot of calls from people complaining about the recent backlog and lack of beds with people spending a lot of time in corridors. Parsons says it makes sense that some people could be cared for in different settings or even their homes but we still lag behind other provinces in terms of health care. Parsons says dubbing up rooms was never in the plans. He says with the demographic challenge now there are a lot of people who require care but there is a big push for the city to get involved and take action on this. He says a lot of people are hurting right now.
