Deputy Fire Chief Derek Simmons says they’ve received over 800 applications and 300 were from Corner Brook.
It’s been slightly more than two weeks since it was launched, but Corner Brook’s Smoke Alarm Distribution program has been a huge success. Deputy Fire Chief Derek Simmons says they’ve received over 800 applications and 300 were from Corner Brook. It included the Bay of Islands, Humber Valley, and White Bay. Simmons says they’re collecting data during installations and many of these homes have smoke detectors but they’re out of date. He says a lot of bedrooms do not have smoke alarms so they’re installing more than they anticipated. Simmons says they’re still taking applications from those with homes built before 2000.
