Quinn Jesso says this just proves that more education and community engagement is needed.
It’s Pride Month and the Corner Brook Bay of Islands Pride committee has received some very hateful and appalling comments on social media. Quinn Jesso says this just proves that more education and community engagement is needed. She says none of the comments they received will deter them from celebrating Pride for what it is meant for.
Government recently declared gender based violence is an epidemic in this province and invested $8M towards ending it. Jesso says comments have been turned off on their social media and the community is showing support. This includes the Corner Brook Status of Women, the city of Corner Brook and Chief Jenny Brake of Qalipu First Nation.
Pride is a time of celebration of being who you are and Jesso says the negativity won’t stop them. Jesso says work needs to be done because there are still so many people that are suffering in silence. She says it’s time to spread the love, not the hate.
