The team has worked with a local school showing them things older people made for their generation like pieces like patch designs.
West Street will come alive this Saturday as Corner Brook is set to welcome CB Nuit for it’s seventh year. This annual event transforms the city’s downtown into a vibrant landscape of light, movement, and expression. Organizer Louise Gauthier says one thing that started after the first year was the “Community project” and it was born out of necessity. She says it’s led by the festival’s lead artist at the time, and travels into elementary schools to design a project that many hands can create.
This year’s Lead Artists are Blessing and Benjamin , and their project is called, “Bloom Together, a Community Runway of Renewal” Blessing says she started thinking about how to include everyone in a project about fashion. She’s researched and found older people are more inclined to sew and knit than younger generations, and spectators will be amazed at this year’s exhibition.
Benjamin says in speaking with older people, he started thinking about his own senior years and he can help future generations by his own choices. The team also worked with a local school showing them things older people made for their generation like pieces like patch designs.
