The Deputy Fire Chief of the Corner Brook Fire department is in Halifax for Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs -Fire Rescue Canada. Chiefs from across the country have gathered to talk about issues and solutions. Derek Simmons says the biggest issue facing fire departments is the increasing cost of providing fire services. Simmons says larger fire departments in urban areas are challenged by health departments, when not enough ambulances are available. He says upwards of 300 people are attending the event which wraps up tomorrow afternoon.
