A number of agencies were on scene but BOISAR's Shawn Street is saying a big thank you to the city of Corner Brook, saying they were there within five minutes and had the area plowed so they could get equipment in.
Shawn Street is with the Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue team. He says they got a call around 7:30 Saturday morning and 14 members showed up on site to help. Street says the weather and roads were bad so they didn’t take a lot of equipment but did bring their cold water rescue trailer. He says they made it as far as Little Port but the Cormorant had everyone rescued from the ship already. Street says they were there in case the vessel rolled over and the crew ended up in the water.
