President and CEO Tammy Priddle says they expect a 30 percent increase in passenger traffic this year.
The Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority is getting ready for a season of growth and held their Annual General Meeting this week. President and CEO Executive Director Tammy Priddle says Monette Pasher of the Canadian Airports Council gave an interesting presentation on the State of Aviation in Canada.Priddle says the Board of Directors presented a review of 2023 and it was a successful year. She says they’re still recovering from the covid pandemic but they’re in a really good position with passenger traffic to what it was in 2019. Priddle says they expect a 30 percent increase in passenger traffic this year. Westjet will be back with a new direct route to Calgary and are returning with their Toronto route. Flair airlines is launching a new route into Toronto Pearson and returning with their Kitmchener, Waterloo route. Air Canada will be adding a bigger plane for their flights to Montreal and adding a daily flight to Toronto. Pal Airlines will continue with provincial flights and into Moncton.
