Premier John Hogan confirmed some homes have burned.

On Sunday at 10:30 a.m. police arrested a 51 year old Maidstone man on Carolina Avenue in Stephenville. He blew nearly twice the legal limit, was on parole, and had an open container of booze in the vehicle. 

RNC Cst James Cadigan says footage received at the time has been analyzed to get to this point.

Police are also looking for the driver of a red Nissan Juke that had stopped in the area after the crash and anyone with video footage or information. 

She was taken to the Nain Community Clinic, where she was pronounced dead.

Premier John Hogan says crews are in place and continue to battle these fires. He says some homes have been destroyed and about 20,000 hectares burned but no structures have been affected in Holyrood.

Gill wants to review policies to ensure they are flexible enough to help rather than hinder.

The driver showed signs of drug impairment and was taken to hospital, where blood samples were collected.

The town of Western Bay is the latest to be evacuated and an evacuation alert has been issued for the residents in the unincorporated area of Ochre Pit Cove.
