9th annual All-Nations powwow at Grenfell Campus is open to everyone this Sunday

    Manager, Indigenous Affairs, Kristen Pittman says it’s important to offer events like this which help students feel recognized and safe in their own school, with 324 Indigenous students on campus making up  25 percent of the total number of students. 

    The 9th Annual All-Nations powwow is happening this Sunday at Grenfell Campus, which also coincides with Grenfell’s 50th anniversary. Manager, Indigenous Affairs, Kristen Pittman says it gets underway 11 a.m. at the Arts and Science Atrium. She says they usually get upwards of 400-500 attend with good engagement from students. Pittman says this year there will be student vendors who have learned how to bead from Grenfell’s beading club and have gone on to start their own businesses. 

    She says it’s important to offer events like this which help students feel recognized and safe in their own school, with 324 Indigenous students on campus making up  25 percent of the total number of students. 

    Sunday’s powwow is open to all and the Grand Entry gets underway at 1p.m.
