RCMP say Mary Spicer stole about $11,000 from the town office.
A 61-year-old woman is facing charges after making a false claim about an armed robbery at the town office in St. George’s. Cpl Jolene Garland says Bay St. George RCMP responded to a report around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. Police determined that a robbery did not occur, and that Mary Spicer, who reported being robbed, had made a false report of the crime to police. RCMP say Spicer stole about $11,000 from the town office. She’s been charged with public mischief and theft over $5,000.00. Mary Spicer is set to appear in court at a later date.
