Turning 100 is a milestone to be recognized and centennial celebrations for the Westside Tabernacle are getting underway in Corner Brook. There will be events at Margaret Bowater Park on Saturday and Sunday that are open to everyone and include a free BBQ. Pastor Jeremy Simms says he’s very proud and humbled to be a part of this. He says he’s seen a lot of changes during his 15 years at the church but they adapt to the times.
The Westside Tabernacle has been providing Christmas Dinners to those in need for the past few decades. Simms says helping people is one of the reasons they exist. An opening celebration service will get underway 7 p.m. at the church on Elizabeth Street.
