The last cruise ship visit to the Port of Corner Brook was due to be today but was cancelled due to weather. The MS Vista carrying over 2,000 passengers and crew, was here for the first time in early September and today would have been their fourth call of the season. Patti Ricketts is the Cruise and Community Engagement Coordinator at the port and says it’s a high end vessel with a top of the line experience. She says the vessel is owned by Oceania Cruises, a luxury line that has always been a large caller to the port.
Ricketts says the MS Vista was one of 3 inaugural calls this year, which also included the Explora 3 and the Crown Princess, which ended up spending the night here back in July. She says the season started in the middle of June with 12 port calls on the schedule with about 16,500 passengers.
Ricketts says details on the economic impact of the 2025 cruise ship season should be coming within the next few months.
