The City of Corner Brook has released a statement regarding ongoing negotiations with CUPE Local 4386, representing workers at the Civic Centre. The statement reads, “Throughout negotiations, the City has participated in bargaining and conciliation in good faith and has advanced proposals that recognize the valuable contributions of the Civic Centre employees while balancing its fiscal responsibility to taxpayers. The City’s proposals are consistent with recently negotiated agreements with other CUPE locals within the City. Another conciliation session is scheduled for later this month.” Meanwhile, under the belief that collective bargaining is most effective when discussions occur at the negotiating table, the City will not be commenting further or doing media interviews at this time. Bayfm news has reached out to CUPE for comment.
