The Western Wave Robotics team is into their third year and kicked off a new season here in Corner Brook last week. Thomas Young says to be a member of the team, you have to be enrolled at Grenfell Campus or College of the North Atlantic but if you’re really into robots and would like to join you can be a mentor. He says last year was an exceptional one for the Western Wave Robotics team, placing third at an event in St. John’s and they’re hoping to compete in Washington next June. Young says they’re still in the recruiting stage and will finalize the team in January. He says while a lot of the appeal for young people is building a robot, the educational part is to prepare young people for careers in robotics.
The Western Wave Robotics team meets Tuesdays from 7-9 at the Centre for Research and Innovation on Mill Road and people are welcome to drop by. For more information email twy675@mun.ca
