The Mayor of Stephenville believes the west coast town could become the next city in NL. World Energy GH2 has announced a wind project in the area and they have also acquired the Stephenville Port. The final steps in the sale of the Stephenville Airport to businessman Carl Dymond could be made any day now. Mayor Tom Rose says they have lots of reasons to believe city status is on the way within the next 5 to 10 years. He says investment in the area could be scaled as the biggest in Atlantic Canada. Mayor Rose says this growth will also spread to other neighbouring communities, like Corner Brook. He says it's been awhile since Stephenville had a boom but it's having one now. Statistics Canada says there are 6,278 people living in Stephenville.
