Water will be released over Main Dam, through Junction Brook and into the Upper Humber River causing water levels to rise in these areas.
Officials are keeping a close eye on the water level in the Grand Lake Reservoir and Deer Lake Power might have to release some of it in the coming days. This is due to current and forecasted conditions and if a release is required, parent company Kruger will issue a notice. Water will be released over Main Dam, through Junction Brook and into the Upper Humber River causing water levels to rise in these areas. Some places normally accessible by land may become submerged and caution should be used near shorelines and waterways. In May, Deer Lake was under a flood watch due to high levels in the Humber River from snow melt. Shortly after that, Kruger opened several gates at Main Dam to lower the water level in the Grand Lake Reservoir. Residents were ready to evacuate, and Fire and Emergency Services were on standby.
