The cost of asphalt has gone down a lot since last year but the cost of cleaning at the Marina Redmond Centre has gone up by more than $90K. At last night’s public meeting in Corner Brook, council awarded a contract worth more than $1.3M to Marine Contractors Inc. On Bayfm this morning, Mayor Linda Chaisson says more than 3K metric tonnes will be used for road repairs.
A tender for cleaning services at the Marina Redmond Centre closed on June 15th with one bid from closed on June 15th with one bid from Blair Holdings Limited. The Mayor says this is work only done during after hours and doesn't include the pool or its deck, which is done by city staff with special cleaners to prevent slips and falls. The current cleaning contract has expired but Chaisson says cleaners will be there until the end of this month and the city is working on another plan.
