Lynn Howse is the Outreach Officer with Western Regional Waste Management and says containers that handle fruit are recyclable but soft packing around a 24-pack of bottled water is garbage.

Trash Talk is a weekly show on Thursdays here on Bayfm and last week’s topic was “plastics.” Lynn Howse is the Outreach Officer with Western Regional Waste Management. She says there are a lot of misconceptions out there about plastic packaging and containers that handle fruit are recyclable but soft packing around a 24-pack of bottled water is garbage.

Howse says one question they recently had on the Waste Wizard app was about “hangers” and whether metal or plastic, they both go in the clear bag. There are many different types of yogurt and pudding cups out there, and Howse says if there’s a recycling number of 6 on there, it goes in the trash.
