Seniors receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement also qualify for a 15% discount on property taxes by calling 1-800-277-9914.

Seniors in Corner Brook have more time to pay their taxes. City hall has extended the deadline to March 13th. This is available only for seniors and those 65 and older can avail of a 1% discount if paid by the deadline. On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit last week, Mayor Linda Chaisson says this is partially due to reports of delayed delivery of tax bills. Seniors receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement also qualify for a 15% discount on property taxes by calling 1-800-277-9914.

To qualify individuals must provide documentation confirming they are at least 65 during the current year and that there are no outstanding arrears. The 15% discount applies only to the current tax year.
