TCH north of Port-aux-Basques finally reopened after transport truck blocked the west lane all night

    The westbound lane of the Trans-Canada Highway was blocked overnight.

    UPDATE: (March 17, 12:20 pm): The Trans-Canada Highway has fully reopened between Red Rocks and St. Andrew’s. Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP thanks all drivers for your patience and cooperation.

    EARLIER STORY: Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP is currently responding to a tractor trailer blocking the westbound lane of the Trans-Canada Highway between Red Rocks and St. Andrew’s.

    While the TCH is passable, motorists should expect delays and are asked to drive with extreme caution and patience. Motorists are reminded to slow down and obey all instructions from first responders. 

    Police are reporting icy road conditions and limited visibility due to snow. Increasing winds are also impacting travel conditions.

    RCMP is asking people to consider delaying any immediate travel in the area.
