The Purple Ribbon Campaign has launched with heart wrenching stories

    Women and Gender Equality Minister Pam Parsons says gender based violence affects our society at its very core.

    The Purple Ribbon Campaign was launched yesterday which marks the start of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence. Women and Gender Equality Minister Pam Parsons brought greetings to the gathering in front of Confederation Building. She says gender based violence affects our society at its very core. Debbie Hibbs lost her daughter to gender based violence, a double murder suicide. 

    Sharon Warren of the RNC says police are committed to end violence against women and girls. RCMP Superintendent Pamela Robinson says officers see and understand the impacts of intimate partner gender violence. .Negotiations with the Federal Government on a four-year bilateral funding agreement to support the implementation of the National Action Plan to End Gender-based Violence have been ongoing. Details regarding this multi-million dollar funding agreement benefitting many local groups and organizations will be announced in the coming weeks.
