Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation, Minister Lisa Dempster says she was honored to be able to take part in an event at Cormack this week. The annual Provincial Indigenous Women’s Steering Committee Gathering, took place on November 27th and 28th. Dempster says there were representatives from all across the province. She says she spoke during the diner and they had an opportunity to share thoughts in order to improve the quality of life. Dempster says these gatherings have been happening for a number of years. She says Indigenous women have an important role to play in improving justice, public safety, and other areas across government. Dempster believes the key to advancing action that will address violence is embodied in the wealth, knowledge and strength of this group. The Office of Women and Gender Equality provided funding of $25,000 for the Gathering.
