While the accounts receivable balance is comparable to the prior year, it is a large balance, which is a matter of concern for staff.

The city of Corner Brook mailed out municipal tax invoices to residents and businesses this week. At Monday’s public meeting, Councillor Donna Luther says December is the fiscal year-end, and staff have been getting the City's accounting records updated and ready for year end reporting. While the accounts receivable balance is comparable to the prior year, it is a large balance, which is a matter of concern for staff. The City Collector has been actively engaged in contacting taxpayers and businesses regarding their outstanding accounts and have made some progress in January 2026, however, there are still many accounts with outstanding taxes. Staff anticipates that collection efforts will be reflected positively in the coming month's financial reports on overdue amounts. Anyone having trouble paying their taxes can call city hall to make payment arrangements.
