Mayor Bill Dawson says when chlorine levels drop, bacteria can be present but they’re working on bringing chlorine levels back up which kills bacteria.
Water samples from Steady Brook last week have a level of bacteria so the boil order remains in effect for the town. Late in the day on August 4th, the town was informed of the presence of E-Coli from samples taken by Service NL. Since then, the town has been taking regular samples but testing takes some time. This morning the town received results from samples from last week. Mayor Bill Dawson says when chlorine levels drop, bacteria can be present but they’re working on bringing chlorine levels back up which kills bacteria. Residents are reminded to continue boiling drinking water.
