Nominations close tonight to fill the vacant seat in Benoits Cove ward for Qalipu First Nation

    There are 2200 members living in 20 communities that make up the ward. Electoral Officer Berty Leamon says candidates need 2 signatures, must be 18 and live in the ward.

    Qalipu First Nation has a by-election coming up soon and nominations to fill the seat for Benoit’s Cove Ward Councillor close at 8 o'clock tonight. Voting will take place from  June 12th to June 19th. There are 2200 members living in 20 communities that make up the ward. Electoral Officer Berty Leamon says candidates need 2 signatures, and must be 18. Leamon says the band office is there to help eligible voters and voting will be done primarily online, but there will be support options for anyone who might need to phone in. The Benoit’s Cove Ward stretches from Pollard’s Point and Jackson’s Arm area, to Wiltondale though to Pynn’s  Brook, and Humber Arm South to Lark Harbour.
