Soldier On is a Canadian Armed Forces transition group that helps ill and injured soldiers and veterans to help reintroduce them back into society through sport, and creative activity. To date, they’ve helped over 12,000 veterans. Spokesperson Fred Welsh says he became involved after suffering physical injuries. He says the group is fairly new and he ‘s spoken to members in Stephenville, Deer Lake and La Scie who are just learning about Soldier On. This Saturday at the Blomidon Golf Course the group is hosting an open fundraising golf tournament and anyone interested can contact him at 709-649-0012. Welsh says they have 14 teams registered and ladies are also welcome to join.
