A SARA volunteer can now be reached, by phone or text, day or night at (709)216-4357.
SARA is a live 24-hour crisis line offering support and information to those who have experienced sexual assault in Corner Brook and surrounding areas. Trained volunteers provide inclusive support and essential services to individuals, aged 16 and older, impacted by sexual violence in this area. This is a project led by the CBSWC with multiple stakeholders. Paula Sheppard says a SARA volunteer can now be reached, by phone or text, day or night at (709)216-4357. She says volunteers are well trained and provide information about accessing resources, options and what to expect if you choose to go to the hospital or file a complaint with the police. Communication with SARA volunteers is confidential (however this confidentiality does not extend to information regarding cases of immediate danger for the caller, a third party, danger/abuse of minors or as ordered by subpoena).
