The driver explained that he had recently purchased the vehicle and produced a valid temporary insurance certificate.
Bay St. George RCMP pulled a vehicle over on Thursday of last week believing the driver did not have valid insurance. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says an officer on routine patrol stopped the 41-year old male driver on Main Street in Stephenville. The driver explained that he had recently purchased the vehicle and produced a valid temporary insurance certificate.
During the stop, however, he was not able to present his driver’s licence, and police learned that his licence was under suspension. In addition, the man had not transferred registration of the vehicle after purchase.
He was issued tickets under the Highway Traffic Act for driving while disqualified and failure to notify registrar of transfer of ownership.
The vehicle was seized and impounded by police.
