Sgt. Lori Canning has been with the RCMP for nearly twenty years.
The courageous work of a Deer Lake RCMP member was recognized recently on National Police Woman Day. Sgt. Lori Canning has been with the RCMP for nearly twenty years. She started out as a teacher but felt something was missing, especially since he father was a RCMP member. Canning’s brother and her husband Paul are also police officers. She jokes about being the one who recruited him 17 years ago. Between 20 and 25 percent of regular RCMP members are women.
