RCMP investigate arson in Port au Port East, ask residents to check video surveillance

    The blaze was put out by firefighters and evidence suggests that the fire was intentionally set. 

    Bay St. George RCMP is looking into a case of suspected arson at a residential property on the Main Road in Port au Port East on January 4th. Police were called around 3 o’clock that morning and when they got to the scene, a vehicle, which was parked in the driveway, was fully engulfed in flames with heat damage spreading onto the home.  The blaze was put out by firefighters and evidence suggests that the fire was intentionally set.  Suspect(s) were seen leaving the area on an all-terrain vehicle at a high rate of speed.
