Government has received notification from PowerSchool that credit monitoring and identity protection services are now activated and available for students and teachers whose information was involved in the recent cybersecurity incident.
Powerschool is a platform used in the provincial K-12 education system. On January 7th, there was a cybersecurity incident and since then, it has been determined that personal information on students dating back to 1995 and teachers since 2010 was compromised. In the coming weeks, Experian (on behalf of PowerSchool) will also be distributing direct email notifications to involved students and educators for whom they have sufficient contact information. Individuals are encouraged to visit the government website or email powerschoolinfo@gov.nl.ca.
