A 26-year-old Corner Brook man was stopped by RCMP Traffic Services West this morning for speeding in a construction zone. Shortly before 8:00 a.m., an officer with RCMP Traffic Services West was patrolling in a construction zone on the Trans-Canada Highway near Massey Drive and noticed a vehicle traveling 113 km/h in the reduced 50 km/h construction zone. A construction crew was present and working at the time and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver was ticketed for speeding in excess of 51 km/h in a construction zone which is associated with a minimum fine of $1,170.00 and six demerit points. His licence was suspended and the vehicle was seized and impounded.
