The group’s latest arrest saw a 29 year old busted at a bar in the city, with a quantity of crack cocaine and cash. RCMP Cpl Jolene Garland says violent crimes, like home invasions and robberies are usually committed by people involved with drugs. She says drug dealers are organized crime and there is a need for more enforcement in the Corner Brook, Deer Lake and Bay of Islands area. Cpl Garland says it’s important for people to report suspected drug activity. The team began operation in March of last year, and in the period of one year conducted 15 searches, arrested 24 people and laid a total of 71 charges. the JFO West designated drug line is (709) 637-4221.
