Pike will perform in the Folk and Country Festival at the Rotary Arts Centre on Thursday, August 17th, from 8-10 pm
Paul Pike took time out of his busy schedule to visit the station for a chat with BayFM’s Terry Boland last week. Pike says he started to learn how to drum when he was about 5 years old, listening to his uncle Carl McHugh and band, Crimson Water. He says as a teenager, he would often jam with his cousins, Dave and Brian McHugh, and they formed a band called Illusion. Pike moved away to Alaska and that’s when he started thinking about his native heritage. He says his latest interest is mi'kmaq flute. Pike released what was probably the first native american flute album from Newfoundland. He will perform in the Folk and Country Festival at the Rotary Arts Centre on Thursday, August 17th, from 8-10 pm
