The Corporation’s goal is to minimize costs that must be passed along to customers.

There will be no rate increases as a result of the fuel surcharge, due to be announced on December 1st. A statement released today says the organization is continuing its evaluation of the fuel surcharge program. Marine Atlantic is a Canadian Crown Corporation tasked with fulfilling the constitutional mandate of offering freight and passenger service between the Provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia. As a federal Crown Corporation, Marine Atlantic does not make a profit. The Corporation’s goal is to balance the requirement to meet cost recovery targets while minimizing costs that must be passed along to customers and continue working towards these goals while dealing with rising inflationary pressures.
