This is the first time in over 20 years Canada has won a bid to host the World Petroleum Congress.

Industry Minister Andrew Parsons will join other government officials in attending the 24th World Petroleum Congress in Calgary, Alberta, from now until Thursday. This event brings together leaders from oil and gas producing nations every three years to discuss energy matters. The triennial World Petroleum Congress is known as the “Olympics” of the petroleum industry. The congress generally attracts more than 10,000 delegates from 100 countries. This year’s theme is “Energy Transition-The Path to Net Zero”. This is the first time in over 20 years Canada has won a bid to host the World Petroleum Congress. Parsons says “NL will be there to showcase energy expertise, and to promote upcoming licencing rounds, geoscience data, and many green transition opportunities.”
