Games Chair Len Moores says Corner Brook Intermediate and Corner Brook Regional High will help house the athletes.

When the 50th NL Summer Games start in Corner Brook and Stephenville this August, organizers are already projecting it will be the biggest summer games yet. On Bayfm’s “Blaze’s Corner,” Games chair Len Moores spoke about the numbers with up to 1600 athletes expected over the week and people supporting them as well as the games.

Moores says Corner Brook Intermediate and Corner Brook Regional High will help house the athletes. He says they worked with the fire department and are permitted 1.4 square metres per athlete, meaning they could fit 13-14 in a room.

Moores says they are also planning to have events and music at the schools during the evenings, making it their home away from home. Meals will be cooked in the schools and Moores says they’re working on meal plans now.  Opening ceremonies will take place at the Civic Centre August 8th featuring ten teams.
