• August 1st will from now on be known as "Corner Brook Day" but it's not a civic holiday

  The City’s civic holiday remains as the third Monday in February as part of Winter Carnival.

  Shortly after ten o’clock Thursday morning, RCMP were passed on the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) by a SUV travelling at 155 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone and the driver, a 45-year-old Corner Brook man, was ticketed.

  Gord Hamlyn was a firefighter for 45 years and a big part of his entire career was the Toy Drive.

• Government has increased the one-time fertility subsidy by $9,000

  Health and Community Services Minister Lela Evans says it will also help improve access to care, while work continues to establish IVF services here in Newfoundland and Labrador.

• Government is reviewing plans for harvesting from Deer Lake to Cat Arm and the whole Baie Verte Peninsula

  The 5-year plan was registered with the Environment department on August 6th and public comments are due by September 11th.
