Municipalities NL wants government to prioritize on outdated legislation

    The Municipal Elections Act does not effectively meet the needs of voters or municipalities.

    As MHA’s are back in their seats in the House of Assembly for the spring sitting starting today. Municipalities NL wants government to prioritize updates to legislation affecting municipalities. Acts for the city of Corner Brook, St. John's Act, and Mount Pearl are outdated.  The Municipal Elections Act does not effectively meet the needs of voters or municipalities. As well, the Highway Traffic Act does not account for electric scooters or bikes.
