There was a special unveiling yesterday at  Confederation building in St. John’s of artwork done by Mi’kmaq artist Marcus Gosse. The piece is titled “Unity” (Mawo'ltimk), and illustrates the spirit of the Qalipu First Nation people. Gosse  is well known on the west coast. Qalipu First Nations Chief Jenny Brake says the unveiling of Marcus Gosse’s artwork is an important moment of recognition for Indigenous artistry and storytelling. She says his work reflects the vibrant culture of the Mi’kmaq people.

Premier Andrew Furey says this presentation is a continuation of the journey to Reconciliation as we move forward in our understanding of Indigenous cultures. The art will be installed and on display for the public to see in the lobby of the Confederation Building, East Block.
